Door check-in

On show night, door staff scan each ticket's QR code with a phone and Platypus confirms on the spot that it is genuine, paid, for tonight, and not already used. Staff don't need accounts or logins. You share a secret door link; the link itself is the credential.

1. Create the door link

Open Tickets in the admin sidebar, pick the event, and press Create door link on the Door check-in card. You get a link like:

Copy it and send it to whoever is working the door. Text message is fine, and the word-style link is easy to read aloud or retype if a tap doesn't work. Anyone who has the link can check tickets in, so share it only with people working that night.

2. What door staff see

Opening the link on a phone shows a camera view, a running checked-in / sold tally, and a code entry box:

• Scan — point the camera at the ticket QR (on paper or a screen). The verdict fills the screen: green with the attendee's name for a good ticket, red with a reason for anything else — unknown code, unpaid order, already used (with the time), cancelled performance, or wrong day (showing the day the ticket is actually for).
• Type instead — if the camera can't read a crumpled printout, type the short code printed under the QR and press Check.
• Undo — mis-scanned someone? Press Undo — mis-scan on the green screen and the ticket becomes scannable again.

Each ticket checks in exactly once. Scanning it a second time shows already used, even if two phones scan it at the same moment.

When check-in is open

The door link works on the day of the performance and the whole following day, so a ticket holder wandering in after midnight still scans fine. Outside that window the link shows a check-in closed page and accepts nothing. For an event with several dates, each ticket is valid only around its own date: last night's ticket shows wrong day tonight.

The window follows your venue's timezone (set in Settings).

Rotating or revoking the link

On the Door check-in card:

• Rotate link — issues a fresh link and kills the old one instantly. Do this if a link leaked or after each run of shows.
• Revoke — kills the link without replacing it. Scanning stops until you create a new one.

Every check-in, undo, and link change is recorded in your venue's audit log. The admin Tickets page shows the same checked-in-against-sold tally per event, so you can see how many actually came without borrowing the door phone.

Can attendees check themselves in?

No. The QR on a ticket is just the ticket's code — it is not a web address, so scanning it with a phone camera shows a short text string and nothing else. Checking in requires the secret door link, which never appears on tickets. There is nothing an attendee can scan, tap, or visit that marks their own ticket as used.

If the wifi dies

Print the door sheet before the show (Tickets → your event → Doorsheet; the row menus and Dashboard call it Door sheet) — it lists every sold ticket with a tick-box, ordered by name, and works with a pen. The scan page needs a connection; the paper never does.
