Subscription & billing

Platypus bills your venue a subscription for platform access, plus $1 AUD per ticket sold. Your subscription is with Platypus Tickets Pty Ltd (ABN 62 702 006 399). This page covers paying Platypus. Taking money from your ticket buyers is separate — that's Stripe payments setup.

Plans

PlanWhat you pay
MonthlyA flat base fee each month, plus the per-ticket fee
Yearly$50 AUD per year, plus the per-ticket fee (still billed monthly)

The per-ticket fee is metered on paid tickets only — free ticket types are never counted. The subscribe screen shows the exact base fee before you commit. There's no trial period: Platypus charges the first invoice the moment you subscribe.

The per-ticket fee

The fee is a flat dollar amount per ticket, never a percentage of your ticket price. Which amount applies is decided by a schedule of price bands: each band covers a range of ticket prices and carries its own flat fee, judged on the full amount the buyer pays for that ticket (your ticket price plus any per-ticket surcharge). The current schedule is one band — $1 AUD at every ticket price — and is published in the pricing section at platypus.tickets.

If the schedule changes, the new fees apply from the next ticket sold. Tickets already sold are never re-billed, and your monthly invoice lists the metered usage against each fee it was sold under.

Subscribing

Account and Billing in the admin sidebar shows your subscription state. If you're not subscribed, pick a plan and click Subscribe: Platypus sends you to a Stripe-hosted checkout to enter card details, then returns you to the billing page. (If the panel says billing isn't configured yet, that's on the Platypus operator, not you.)

Managing it

The billing portal button hands you to Stripe's hosted portal for everything ongoing: changing your card, viewing and downloading invoices, or cancelling. If you cancel, the subscription runs to the end of the paid period.

What the subscription controls — honestly

The subscription pays for your platform access. It is not a switch on ticket sales:

  • Paid ticket checkout works when your Stripe keys are configured; free ticket types are claimable without Stripe at all.
  • Platypus meters the per-ticket fee against your subscription as paid tickets sell. Free tickets are never counted.
  • Deactivating your venue's account is an operator action, never an automatic consequence of a lapsed card. If it happens, your public pages and admin return "not found" until the account is reactivated; payments already in flight still complete and issue tickets.

If you're winding down, cancel the subscription and email support@platypus.tickets about the account itself.
